College Scholarship Information and Deadlines

Hispanic Heritage Foundation
The Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards offer educational grants in several categories to qualified Hispanic/Latino high school juniors. Students are also eligible to be selected as a national recipient and receive a laptop computer and alll-expense-paid trip to the National Youth Awards ceremony. The requirements for applicants are: you must be a current high school junior (not senior); you must plan to attend college in Fall 2013; you must have U.S. citizenship or permanent U.S. residency; you must be of Hispanic/Latino descent (one of your parents must be Hispanic); you must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or 7.5 on a 10.0 scale; and you must be willing to pay your own travel costs to the regional awards ceremony. The application is available at www.HispanicHeritage.org. Application deadline is July 6.

Albuquerque Community Foundation
The Albuquerque Community Foundation has a number of scholarships and financial aid programs for students covering a range of criteria and qualifications, including: students who engage in community service; students who are in or have been in New Mexico foster care; students living in mobile homes; Native American students involved in varsity sports; students who don't receive enough Federal Financial Aid to cover expenses; and students who are pursuing a trade in auto or metal works. The Santa Fe Women's Club and Library Association
The Santa Fe Women's Club and Library Association scholarship is an option for young women graduating from high school in 2012 and planning to attend college in the fall. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Applications are available in Ms. Sunseri's office.

Abbot & Fenner Business Consultants Scholarship
$1,000 awarded to the scholarship winner. Submit an essay on one of the topics that appears at www.abbotandfenner.com/scholarships.htm. The deadline is June 25, 2012.

AES Engineers
AES Engineers is offering a $500 scholarship awarded on the basis of character. AES, a consulting firm, is committed to supporting higher education and believes that a high grade-point-average should not be the only criterion for eligibility. To apply for the scholarship, visit www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm and answer one of the essay questions. The application deadline is October 5, 2012.
