Tuition Assistance
All families are encouraged to apply for tuition assistance. Tuition assistance can come in two forms to the student: tuition assistance and work study. Both awards fall under the umbrella of 'financial aid.' The money that funds tuition assistance is provided by three organizations: The St. Michael’s Foundation, The Alumni Association, and The Parent’s Club. The money that funds the work study program comes from St. Michael’s High School. Each organization works feverishly throughout the academic year to raise money for tuition assistance. If a student receives an award, they will receive either a tuition assistance award or a work study award, but not both. Not every student that applies for aid receives an award. In order to be considered for tuition assistance or work study, families must meet all of the following criteria:-
The family must apply for tuition assistance through FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment and the application must be complete and “verified” with FACTS, by Friday, May 18, 2012. To be “verified” means that FACTS has received all necessary documentation to confirm the details of your application.
-
If the applicant is a returning St. Michael’s student, the family must have a zero balance by May 18, 2012.
-
Although the application is available to all students, the student/ family must have completed and submitted a registration packet and paid the entire $300 registration fee, per student attending, for the upcoming school year.
-
The student must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Students meeting all of these criteria will be considered for assistance, but it is not guaranteed that by meeting all of these criteria an award will be made. Applications will be reviewed in late May/early June and award letters will be made by mail shortly thereafter. All families that apply for financial assistance will receive a single letter regarding the status of their application, whether aid was granted or not. These letters will be sent to the address provided on the FACTS financial aid application. Tuition assistance applications that are received after the May 18 deadline will be considered for aid only after all other applications that met the deadline are reviewed and if funds remain.
Financial Aid applications must be submitted and verified to FACTS by May 18, 2012.
