Dorothy was born in Kansas (just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz). She began playing the Trombone in the 4th grade and is still at it. She earned her degree at San Francisco State, where she met her husband Bruce. They were married in 1969. She started teaching in Belmont, California the same year.
She and Bruce moved to Santa Fe in 1973. Dorothy was a Jr High Band director for several years. Eventually she added Guitar to her teaching schedule. She retired from SFPS in May of 2000.
In August 2002 she received a call from St. Mike’s. They had two Guitar classes but the person they had hired backed out. Dorothy took the job and she has been here ever since! In 2011 she went back to her roots and started directing the band. In addition to working with the Band and Guitar students, she performs five groups in Santa Fe and Los Alamos.
