Overview

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

Induction Ceremony Rescheduled

Change:  The NHS/NJHS Induction Ceremony for new members has been rescheduled for Thursday, December 10 at 6:00 p.m.

Induction Ceremony Cancelled

Due to inclement weather, the NHS/NJHS Induction Ceremony has been cancelled for tonight and will be rescheduled at a later time.

OFFICERS MEETING

Officers, we will meet on Thursday at 1:00 in my office. Please plan to attend - it's important. Thank you.

Mr. Armijo

Induction Ceremony Monday, Nov. 16

Current NHS Members - You are all invited to attend the induction ceremony for new members next Monday. However, it is not mandatory that you attend (except for Officers).

However, we need help from several of you:
1) We need 2 -4 members to set up drinks/cookies while the ceremony is going on, and 2)  We need cookies and drinks! If you can provide cookies, or punch (pre-made, we'll just pour and add ice) or water bottles (the small ones), that would be great! Of course, if you can help either with set up or providing refreshments, that can help with Block M points at the end of the year (service points).

PLEASE come see me tomorrow to let me know if you can help. Spread the word! Thanks.

TUTORING

Juniors and Seniors in NHS:  Please print out the posted Tutoring Questionnaire (it should be either before or after this post), complete it, and bring it to me this week. We are in real need of tutors! Lucia can then begin to get the tutoring program up and running. Remember that tutoring is a vital part of NHS, and certainly affects Block M points at the end of the year. If you have any questions, let me know.

Blood Drive

Thank you very much to all who helped with the drive. Whether you donated blood, helped during one or more periods, wore the Ubie suit, or recruited someone to donate, you made a difference, and I appreciate your efforts! I will try to have details on the results soon.

We have 2 things coming up:  1) The Thanksgiving Food Drive, and 2) The Induction Ceremony for new members (Nov. 16). Officers are required to attend, but all members are invited. More on these later.

Thank you once again, and please remind your friends in NHS to subscribe to this page! Only about 1/2 of our junior and senior members have subscribed.

Blood Drive Reminder!

NHS Members:  Please recruit family and friends for the Blood Drive. Adults can call me to sign up, or they can go to unitedbloodservices.org and choose DONATE NOW to schedule their own appointment. Students can sign up in the front office. Remember that you can receive credit toward your Block M points at the end of the year for bringing in donors (including yourself if you qualify). LET'S SAVE LIVES!                                      Mr. Armijo
