Giving Opportunities

Annual Fund
Gifts to the Annual Fund support the greatest areas of need in student life, serve the entire campus, and honor a commitment to excellence in all areas. Funds are directed toward tuition support for the education of a diverse student population; promoting academic excellence through development and support of faculty and staff; and enhancing and updating the educational facilities of St. Michael’s.

Tuition Assistance
Every year, St. Mike's recieves far more requests for financial aid than we can grant. In 2010, we awarded a total of $262,000 to 90 students, 44 percent of the 204 students who requested financial aid. However, every student's tuition is kept as low as financially possible for the school via a subsidy we raise through our Annual Fund; in 20102011, each student's education was subsidized by $1,276 before tution was charged. Most financial aid is awarded based on need, but SMHS would like to expand our ability to award scholarships based on need as well as merit. Named scholarships are a great way to support our students--click here to learn more. (To apply for financial aid, click here.)

Planned Gifts
Planned giving encompasses a variety of specially tailored giving arrangements, among the most common of which are leaving money or assets to a non-profit after one’s death or investing money so that the donor receives benefits during his/her lifetime and then bequeaths the remaining funds to the non-profit.

Matching Gifts
Many employers offer matching programs for employees’ charitable donations. When making a gift to St. Mike’s, please inquire about the availability of this program at your employer’s human resources or administrative offices.

Endowment
Endowment funds present named opportunities specifically to support tuition assistance. Building this fund supports the future of St. Michael’s and ensures our ability to educate young men and women who are less able to afford private education.

Special Events
Throughout the year, the development department will host various special fundraising events that provide the opportunity to network with the St. Mike’s community. Ticket purchases for such events augments money raised for the Annual Fund.

Major Gifts
All gifts, no matter the size, make a meaningful difference for our students. Major gifts (generally $1,500 and above), however, are a important focus of our fundraising outreach because they are especially critical to the health and overall longevity of the school and can have a profound and immediate impact. Donors at the major gift level receive various benefits for their contributions, but the real benefit is to our students and faculty. Your major gift may be directed to the area that is of greatest interest or concern to you as a philanthropist. Often, major gifts are directed to scholarships, special projects, the Foundation's endowment, or capital projects.

We can help you create a major gift designation that will be meaningful to St. Mike's while speaking to your particular passion. Some wonderful examples of major gifts to St. Mike's over the years include:
