As part of their ongoing preparation for the new school year, Saint Michael’s leadership team (front row) Annette Rivera-Legits, Susan Patten, Leslie Romero Kilmer, Denise Villanueva, Diahann Larson, Tom Manning, and (back row) Sara Baca, Sam Govea, and Kevin Garcia spent a morning of Lasallian leadership formation.
They reflected on their special vocation as Lasallian educators who partner with a loving God for the salvation of the students entrusted to their care, especially those most in need. Team members identified the key challenges facing the SMHS educational community and discussed the skills needed to address them in order to maximize faculty and student success.
The team was reminded that Saint Michael’s has faced a number of catastrophes before in its 160-year history. Each challenge was overcome by the community with deep faith. It will be so again in this new year. Two goals emerged: the need to help our students to develop their resilience, and the need to create/maintain a sense of community online.
Although a number of members are new to the team, all were unified in a sincere desire to ensure that, despite the current crisis, this will be Saint Michael’s best year yet. The morning was facilitated by the Assistant Visitor, Brother Nick Gonzalez, who taught for two very happy years (1984-86) at Saint Michael’s.
