Coach Alfonso Camarena has been involved in the Santa Fe soccer community for nearly 30 years, contributing his expertise at both the club and high school levels. Born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, Coach Camarena brings a wealth of experience from his time playing for the University of Guadalajara's Chemistry Soccer team (1983-1985) and the soccer school of the Guadalajara Chivas team. He holds a coaching license from the state of New Mexico, and his coaching staff boasts a collective 30 years of coaching experience.


For over 14 years, Coach Camarena has been an integral part of the St. Mike's soccer program. He has served as the JV Head Coach for both the boys' and girls' teams, Assistant Coach for the girls' Varsity soccer team, and Head Coach of the girls' Varsity team. Under his leadership, the girls' Varsity team clinched their first title in over a decade in 2021. Throughout his tenure, Coach Camarena has guided the team to one state championship in 2020 - 2021 and a state runner-up finish in 2021 - 2022 season.


Coach Camarena's coaching philosophy prioritizes the development of each player's technique, alongside fostering a deeper understanding of the game and nurturing their character. The team's motto, "Discipline, Hard Work, and Respect," reflects these core values.
