Joey is an Alumni of St. Michael’s class of 1988. After graduation from St. Mikes he attended the University of New Mexico where he played football.  He graduated from UNM with a BS in Physical Education in 1993. He began his football coaching career at St. Mikes in the fall of ’93. In 1997, he started teaching and became the boys and girls track and field coach. He became head football coach in 2002. His teams have accumulated a total of 7 state championships in these sports. Joey became the all time winningest football coach in St. Michaels history on October 15th 2011 surpassing Salvador Perez and has accumulated 114 wins in 12 years as head coach.

Joey is the proud father to six children (All Horsemen), Joel (2011), Jordan (2014), Joliaunna (2015), Jocelyn (2017), Joey (2018) and Joelyn (2019) and grandfather to Kaylee.
