When Ms. Abshier was 5 years old she announced to the world that she was going to be a Mexican señorita when she grew up. Growing up in Texas with summers spent in New Mexico only fueled her dreams. Ms. Abshier, who has a BA in Spanish, spent a year abroad in Spain, an experience that helped mold and shape her into the teacher she is today. After 12 years teaching Spanish in Texas, Ms. Abshier and her husband spent 10 years in Alaska, where she also taught Spanish. Now back in the Southwest and enjoying the amazing people, culture, and food, she is thrilled to be teaching Spanishat St. Michael’s. When she’s not in the classroom you can find her making up New Mexican recipes for salmon or remodeling some part of her new house.
