Important Hybrid Update

October 16, 2020

Good Afternoon St. Michael’s Families,

This has not been a typical school year, and I think we can all agree that his has not been a typical year in
general. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our daily lives and everything we know as normal is no
longer normal.

In recent weeks, New Mexico and our own community of Santa Fe have experienced tremendous spikes
in positive cases for COVID-19. We have been monitoring the statistics daily and will continue to do so,
but unfortunately, the recent changes to the public health order will greatly impact our school
community.

The NMAA was allowing off-season workouts with pods of 9 athletes to 1 coach; however, this has been
drastically changed to 4 athletes to 1 coach. The gathering restrictions for both indoor and outdoor
gatherings have changed from 10 to 5 in both public and private environments. This order even impacts
the size of our faculty morning prayers.

It is with a heavy heart, but with the focus of safety and continued commitment to caring for the
students entrusted to our care, that we have decided to postpone the opening of school with our hybrid
model until the end of the 12-week grading period. We will continue to closely monitor COVID cases in
Santa Fe County, and information regarding Trimester I Semester exams will be forthcoming. Please
know that this decision was not made with haste and involved thoughtful prayer and countless hours of
analyzing the available data.

We will continue to monitor the statistics available to us and will continue to put the safety of our
students and community first. We know this is not ideal, and it has not been easy by any means.
However, we are dedicated to our students and our community, and it is our responsibility to keep our
St. Michael’s family as safe as possible.

Please stay safe and know that we are praying for you and our entire St. Michael’s Community, near and
far.

Yours in Christ,
