A letter of hope and resources from Interim-President Leslie Kilmer

Dear St. Michael’s Family,

The past year has presented each one of us, along with our school, our community, and our state
with challenges we never even dreamed we would have in our lifetimes.

The toll on human life and spirit can sometimes be difficult and even unbearable. Adversities can
be gut-wrenching, and it may be difficult to see beyond the immediate. By giving ourselves a
mindset shift in how we perceive what goes on around us, and within us, we also give ourselves a
clean slate to begin again, creating a better future.

I have been eagerly searching for resources and tools to help all of us during the pandemic. Dr.
Bruce Smith, of University of New Mexico’s Positive Psychology Department, developed a very
powerful workbook called Move From Surviving to Thriving. You will discover this workbook is right
for these times, as it answers questions about how to learn, grow, and most importantly, enable
you to strengthen your resilience and bounce back quickly from setbacks.

The workbook is offered as a gift of hope. Therefore, there is no cost associated with the workbook
and it cannot be sold. Please pass it along to your kids, family members, and friends. It is yours to
share and pay forward. In the end it is up to you to apply the tools and concepts in your life to
create a future of hope in all areas that are important to you.

Thank you in advance for all you do to support our St. Michael’s community. For your convenience, you may access the workbook by clicking on the following link:  Move From Surviving to Thriving.

Wishing you and your family a safe and prosperous New Year!

Leslie Romero Kilmer
