A Docent is a volunteer guide or educator who donates two hours per week to the chapel. To prepare, you will shadow some of our Docents and listen (and watch) as they meet and greet visitors from around the world who want to experience "the oldest church in the United States". San Miguel Chapel has been owned by the Christian Brothers Educational Foundation and St Michael's High School since 1895.
If social isolation and watching the news has dampened your zest for life, come out and meet friendly families and folks from all over the world for two hours a week. Some Docents find their experience to be the highlight of their week! This is a low-pressure position with very informal preparation. Notes can be provided...and eventually, you will tell the story as if you've known it for years!
