We commence this week's news with immense pride in congratulating the back-to-back 3A New Mexico high school volleyball state champions and their exceptional head coach, Valerie Sandoval. The Horsemen displayed unwavering determination, securing a remarkable 24-3 record, another district championship, and a stellar run of four wins to clinch the 2023 state championship. Notable victories over Tohatchi (3-0), Sandia Prep (3-1), Hot Springs (3-1), and Santa Fe Indian School (3-0) showcased the extraordinary talent of our athletes.
 
Heartfelt gratitude goes to Ceiliana Ruiz (Senior), Denielle Padilla (Senior), Alana Overton (Senior), Mia Duan (Senior), Jane Erickson (Junior), Sienna Montano (Junior), Victoria Victorino (Junior), Maya Pino (Junior), Alex Crespin (Senior), Marissa Sandoval-Moya (Junior), Ava Lewis (Freshman), Rebekah Bagwell (Senior), and Sophia Lopez (Junior). Your exceptional athletic achievements and representation of St. Michael's High School with class have made us immensely proud this season.
 
All-Star News
 
In another exciting announcement, we extend our congratulations to our senior defensive specialist, Alex Crespin, and senior middle blocker, Alana Overton, for earning spots in the prestigious 2023 New Mexico High School All-Star Game. This game, featuring the best seniors in New Mexico high school volleyball, will take place on Saturday, November 25th, at 1 pm in the 3A/4A category at Bernalillo High School. Overton, a standout player, led the team with 323 kills, 39 total blocks, and 40 aces, while Crespin contributed with 47 aces, a team-high 324 digs, and 96 assists this season. "Congratulations, ladies, for your significant impact on our volleyball program, making St. Michael's one of the best volleyball programs in New Mexico," expressed Joshua Grine, St. Michael's Athletic Director.
 
Football News
 
Lastly, the Horsemen football team demonstrated remarkable prowess, securing a resounding 41-0 victory against the New Mexico Military Colts on Saturday afternoon. This triumph has earned them a coveted spot in the 2023 3A New Mexico high school football state championship, scheduled for November 25th at 1:00 pm in Santa Fe. Further details and ticket information will be provided as they become available. As an NMAA event, all tickets will be digital (No Cash). Heartfelt congratulations to Coach Fernandez and the Horsemen on this remarkable win!
