Horsemen Highlights for week of November 13 - November 17, 2023
Dear Parents,
With winter weather approaching, there will be a probability of delay days and/or school cancellation days due to snow and ice. St. Michael’s high school will follow the SFPS delay and cancellation announcements with a separate Remind notification coming to you directly from our school. If we deviate from a SFPS announcement, we will send out a Remind specifically indicating so.
Final exams will be the week of December 11th. Click HERE for the complete final exam schedule. Not counting Thanksgiving break, there are only three more weeks of school left before finals. It is absolutely imperative that students complete any missing assignments and prepare adequately well ahead of time for final exams.Students who are struggling should be seeking extra help from their teachers and may also take advantage of peer tutoring. Final exams count for twenty percent of the grade in each class and really need to be taken seriously.
Congratulations also to our choral arts program and to our ten students who made All State. The choir had an amazing fall performance at the Cathedral on Wednesday and will also be performing at the Bataan Memorial for Veterans Day.
Congratulations to our girls soccer team on a great season making it to the state semifinals despite tremendous adversity. Let’s all come out in force to support football, cross country, and volleyball as they enter into state competition.
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

A Message From the Deans:
Just a reminder: any extended absences must be approved by Administration at least a week in advance. Forms can be requested through Ms. Margie at the front desk.
All outerwear MUST have a St. Michael's logo. Students are allowed to wear non-SMHS outerwear outside of the building during the school day but those items must be stored inside their lockers during class time.
St. Michael’s High School earned the AP School Honor Roll recognition with a Bronze award. Of the 15,150 eligible schools, 4,570 schools (30%) earned a place on the 2023 AP School Honor Roll. We are one of 14 schools in New Mexico to earn the AP School Honor Roll. We encourage our AP students to take the AP exam to gain an outlook on what to expect in college and to set a goal to finish their AP journey strong. Congratulations to our AP Students!
The deadline to register our AP students for the AP exam is November 15. Mr. Gallegos, academic and college/career counselor, has been working with the AP teachers and students to complete their registration.
Parents, we are three weeks away from semester exams. Please continue to check grades regularly on OnBoard and communicate with your students’ teachers. We are on a continuous grading schedule. This means that grades have continued since midterm progress reports.
