EXTENDS INTERIM PRESIDENT’S CONTRACT

The Saint Michael’s High School Board of Trustees has announced Michael Sandoval will continue as Interim President for another year. Sandoval has been a stabilizing force since he took over as President in December 2022 and will continue through the 2023-2024 school year.

“I’m honored to return to lead St. Michael’s High School for another year. This school has meant so much to generations of my family and others in Santa Fe and we are ensuring it will continue to be a pillar in the community for generations to come,” Sandoval said.

Sandoval is a native New Mexican, born and raised in Santa Fe, and a graduate of New Mexico State University. Mr. Sandoval has been a member of the SMHS community for four generations; graduating in the class of 1988. He continues at SMHS after a tenured career with the New Mexico Department of Transportation, most recently serving as the Cabinet Secretary, where he oversaw policy and operations for over 2,600 employees and a yearly $2 billion budget. In addition to his dedication to the State of New Mexico, Mr. Sandoval has also been involved in coaching youth sports.

“Mr. Sandoval has shown he is the right person to help us transition to the next generation of leadership at St. Michael’s High School.’ said Geno Zamora, Chair of the SMHS Board of Trustees.

The Saint Michael’s High School community appreciates the service Mr. Sandoval has given us and we look forward to the upcoming 2023-2024 school year under his direction.
