Knitting Club

Knitting Club was started in the fall of 2016 with the goal of creating scarves for the unhoused community of Santa Fe.  Students both knit and crochet and teach others their skills.  Each completed scarf has a tag attached with an image of St. Michael, a note explaining that the scarf was created by a St. Michael’s student, a prayer for the recipient, and the Block M emblem of St Michael’s High School.

Goals
We have donated hundreds of scarves over the years through a local medical center.  One year we gave scarves to the 20 Brothers living in Brothers’ House at St. Michael’s.  We also sent scarves to immigrant families in El Paso, Texas.  We are planning to send scarves to Esperanza Shelter for Women  in Santa Fe.
The goal of Knitting Club is to create community among the knitters and to help them find meaning in our 5-Core Principle:  Concern for the Poor and Social Justice.
