Drumline

Drumline 1 is designed for students with little or no prior experience in percussion. This class is offered to students from grades 7-12.

Goals
Students will explore the foundations of rhythm and percussion technique through performance, composition, and rehearsal. This course builds teamwork, musicality, and confidence while offering opportunities to perform publicly when the drumline is performance-ready. Please note that Drumline 1 may or may not participate in all public performances depending on readiness and ensemble progress.
By the end of the course, students will be able to read and perform basic rhythmic notation, compose original grooves, collaborate in an ensemble setting, and demonstrate professional rehearsal etiquette.

By the end of the course, students will be able to read and perform complex rhythmic notation, compose multi-layered cadences, lead peer rehearsals, and demonstrate professional-level rehearsal etiquette and discipline. Emphasis is also placed on collaborative project work, critical listening, and constructive feedback.
