Bio

From Albuquerque, New Mexico, Michael Chavez brings 14 years of teaching experience and a passion for music to St. Michael’s. He studied Performance at the University of New Mexico and now teaches Drumline 1 and Drumline 2, in addition to serving as a substitute teacher across subjects. Michael first discovered his love of teaching through music rehearsals, where he realized how rewarding it was to watch others grow in skill and confidence. At home, he enjoys time with his daughter, Amelia, who is an 8th grader at St. Michael’s. He values the school for its close community and traditions, and he hopes his students remember that discipline and creativity go hand in hand. His leadership in drumline has helped many students find both confidence and joy through performance.
