Bio
Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Chen-Yun Lin brings both scholarly expertise and compassion to her work at St. Michael’s. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Columbia University and now teaches Algebra 2, Algebra 2 Honors, Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus Honors, and AP Calculus AB. Her passion for mathematics was sparked in junior high, when she discovered that while the world often seemed confusing, math always made sense. At home, she enjoys life in Santa Fe with her partner, Daniel Robbins, and their beloved dog, Xiong Xiong, who also made the journey from Taiwan. Chen-Yun often shares with her students that she wasn’t always an A student—her GPA was once just 2.5—and she hopes this honesty shows them that perseverance matters more than perfection. She is inspired by the St. Michael’s community because of its ability to see and value people as individuals rather than processes, and she loves being part of a school that embraces both rigor and compassion. Her quiet humor, honesty, and dedication make her classes both challenging and rewarding, and she hopes students leave her classroom remembering the power of clarity and persistence.
