We are currently accepting applications for a qualified part time Science Teacher (preference in grade 10 Biology and grade 9 Physical Science) at our private Lasallian Catholic high school for immediate start to finish the 2023 semester. Potential exists for 2023-2024 school year employment. We are seeking qualified and licensed teachers who are organized, inspiring, and exceedingly motivated in the science field.

PLEASE NOTE: The hourly rate on this job posting is the starting point of the school compensation chart. Final salary determination will depend on experience, education, and licensure.

St. Michael’s High School is a private Lasallian Catholic school in Santa Fe, New Mexico that educates grades 7 – 12. For many decades, St. Michael’s High School has been the school of choice for aspiring students in the community. Our student population has varied between 425 and 500 over the past few years. Quality education is our mission, and our students are one of our most valued assets of the school!

Our teachers are the other -- for which several are tenured and are soon getting ready to retire. We are seeking motivational teachers who want to help us fill those upcoming vacancies now and for the future. Please join us in our mission to keep the high school moving forward!

Preference will be given to those who live within 50 miles of Santa Fe, NM.
Benefits
St. Michael’s High School currently needs a PART TIME faculty position that will teach two (2) Biology and/or one (1) Physical Science, 50-minute classes per day. St. Michael's has one of, if not one of the most, competitive salary schedules in New Mexico for qualified Teachers.
-Part time, seasonal and short-term teachers are not eligible for most benefits such as insurance, retirement, etc.
-Financial support is available for professional development however, and faculty members are encouraged to take advantage of this benefit.
Requirements
-Experience in your realm of education specialty is imperative.
-A master’s degree and/or a Ph.D. is strongly preferred, but not required for most courses.
-College-level courses require a master’s degree and a teaching license.
-All teaching license requirements will be verified.
-Preferred candidates will possess a degree in their field or a relevant field as well as previous and relevant teaching experience.
-The ideal candidate will have a deep and thorough understanding of a particular academic field and a clear understanding of how that field intersects with other areas.
-Each academic curriculum is designed to provide students with the specific knowledge and life skills necessary to engage with education outside of the classroom and beyond high school.
-Candidate must be willing to engage with other teachers, programs, and the administration to strengthen the entire school and the mission.
-Teachers are expected to work independently and prepare their own courses but will also collaborate with members of their department, colleagues in other departments, and with staff, administrators, and the faculty of the high school to deliver the best education possible.
-Faculty members are expected to participate in programs that support, grow, and encourage the Lasallian Catholic mission of the Christian Brothers.
-There is no relocation package for teaching positions at this time.
-Preference will be given to those who live close to or within a reasonable distance from the high school.
-All candidates offered employment must undergo a background investigation (paid for by the school).
-All candidates must complete a 45-minute online training course conducted by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. -A certificate of completion is required.
-All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and must provide proof of identification upon hire.
Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory results and/or completion of these requirements.
