As the end of the calendar year approaches, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your continued support for the Saint Michael’s Learning Community. The success of our students is due to our relationships with parents, faculty, and staff. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with you. This year we have seen various changes at St. Michaels, but the community has continued to progress and to meet these challenges. I wish everyone my warmest holiday wishes and hope you can spend time with family, friends, and those most important to you.

As the Monday arrives, the day I officially begin my service as Interim Principal, I’d like to thank Dr. Kingsbury, the administration, teachers, and staff on their ministry so far this year. As we look to the new semester, please be aware of some practical items in motion or happening then:
Schedules: Your students (a way to look at your children in light of their growing responsibilities with their education) were given their schedules for second semester and shown how to access them on OnBoard. Any problems with their OnBoard accessing were thus fixed. The students were directed this past week to work out schedule changes, if needed, with the school counselors, Ms. Angel and Mr. Gallegos. If you, as parent/guardian, have trouble accessing OnBoard, please contact Mr. Armijo ([email protected]).
Mon., Jan. 2 Schedule: We are on a regular schedule the day we return. There will not be regular cafeteria lunch service, but, the Prom Committee will be providing a pizza sale. Ms. Margie Baca is helping to coordinate the service.
Inclement Weather Protocol: You noticed this past Monday, we now have an “Inclement Weather Protocol” to assist with communication the day of our ever changing Santa Fe weather. Thank you to Ms. Gurule-Leyba’s research and Ms. Chavez’ communication skills that helped us get it out in time as it was the first project I wanted to complete as it impacts safety. The protocol is now lodged in the Parent link of the website.
After Christmas and before semester begins, I’ll be able to make more announcements of projects that are in motion to better our communication, the main one being posting all school events on the website calendar, a project that will take a couple weeks. My contact information is [email protected] but I’d ask giving me a break over Christmas unless emergency as I’m with my Mom in San Francisco who is on hospice and in her final days. Blessings to you and your family on a holy and happy Christmas and New Year!
Brother James Joost
