Horsemen Highlights for week of May 8-12
Congratulations to Seniors Jacquelyn Gorman and Andy Dang who were recognized at the Elk's Outstanding Students dinner.
Senior Exam and Activity Week:
Next week, Seniors attend the scheduled exam periods. Otherwise, there are a series of community building, reflection, and graduation preparation events that require their attendance. These events are a privilege other schools do not offer and we encourage parental support toward instilling responsibility and accountability with their Senior student as we celebrate in these events their character, their accomplishments, and their hopes and plans for the future. St. Mike’s is proud of our Seniors and their families, as well as the St. Mike’s staff, who have helped nurture them toward adulthood.
Chromebook Return: Parents, we are in the final stretch. Please remember that we begin collecting chromebooks from our seniors next week and our 7-11th graders are scheduled for the week of May 22nd. Please see the Chromebook Return Procedures for the schedule and times."
Grade 7-11 End of Year Notes:
Exams- With two weeks of classes left before finals week, help your student stay focused on their studies. Many activities with State sports and Senior recognitions are part of the life of the school and some students are drawn to them as distraction from studies. Balancing is hard for a young person and we all need to help guide them at this time of year.
Grade 8 Ceremony- The Thurs., May 18, 6:00-7:30PM 8th Grade Ceremony recognizes the achievements of our rising High Schoolers. The ceremony is set within the context of a prayer service and will be in the school’s Tipton Gym. We set this event on the evening before Senior graduation because 8th graders with Senior siblings may have special family in town who would like to attend both events.
Campus Ministry:
Senior Final Retreat- We have had wonderful opportunities to be on retreat with our 8th, 9th and 11th grade students over the past month of April and are now looking forward to being with the Senior Class of 2023 for their final retreat next week at the Cathedral. So many "last" things to remember and celebrate as they continue on their educational journeys. On Tuesday, May 9th, the seniors will report to school for their first and second period exams. After second period, they will report to Crispin Hall at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi by 10:45 am for the start of their retreat. While their day will be packed with retreat activities and reflection, we will also take care of some senior things such as taking the Class of 2023 group picture at the start of retreat, graduation practice towards the end of retreat, and close the retreat day by handing out their graduation caps, gowns and the graduation seating tickets for their families. It is an exciting time for us all to celebrate and join in the spirit of the Class of 2023!
Faith Bowl- We are excited to have joined today (Friday) with Santo Nino Regional Catholic School in representing Santa Fe in the Faith Challenge Bowl. We sent our best to Alexa Flores, Mario Valdivia and Emily Villanueva as they traveled to St. Pius to compete against other catholic school students on their knowledge of Catholic faith. Thank you Ms. Elise Lopez for sponsoring our Faith Challenge Bowl students and good luck!
Block M: We are excited to celebrate our Block M recipients on Sunday. Due to a few different factors, we made the decision to move the celebration to the Tipton Center. The celebration begins at 10:00 a.m. See you there!
Sticking with the Block M theme, we have some fantastic young men and women who are Block M recipients and who also qualified for the State golf tournament that begins their practice round on Sunday. Don't worry, we will still recognize them and hope their families have RSVP’d to attend.
