Horsemen Highlights for week of November 20 - December 1, 2023
Dear Parents,
On Wednesday, we had an all school Thanksgiving Prayer Service and reflected on what we are thankful for. We reflected on the importance of family and how to not take the many blessings we have for granted. We also reflected on how we can help those less fortunate than us and be of service to those in need.
It is such a blessing to work with our amazing students and truly wonderful faculty and staff on a daily basis. The love, care, and support of the entire St. Michael’s community is incredible. Thank you for entrusting us with the education and care of your children. Our school is such a special place because of them.
We would like to wish all of you a happy Thanksgiving and a safe, restful, and enjoyable Thanksgiving break!
Congratulations to Landen Sandoval and Chloe Grieco for both winning the individual state cross country championships and the entire cross country team for another great season. Let us go out in force to cheer on our football and volleyball teams as they continue their run towards a state championship. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

A Message From the Deans
Parents, we are two weeks away from semester exams. Please continue to check grades regularly on OnBoard and communicate with your students’ teachers. We are on a continuous grading schedule. This means that grades have continued since midterm progress reports.
The semester exam schedule is now available. Semester exams begin on Monday, December 11 and will run through December 15. Click HERE to see the schedule in its entirety.
Study Tips for Parents and Students:
Help your students with organization skills.
Have conversations with them about what they learned in each class.
Take some time to review with your students the material as they prepare for their exams.
Please help us remind your students that they are expected to be prepared for class on a daily basis. This means attending class with appropriate materials, charged chromebooks, and cell phones in their backpacks.
Covid and flu season continue. Please adhere to the best practices administered by the CDC and the NMDOH. You can find more information regarding Covid by clicking HERE. For access to the Covid 19 Tool Kit click HERE. Refer to pages 11-12 for quick information on what to do with an exposure and a test result.

Ninety two student athletes took part in this Class 3A 5K run at Albuquerque Academy, but the final three who finished were some of the most memorable. 22 minutes and 53 seconds after they started the race, three runners from three different schools, and three different ages, finally crossed the finish line…Together. In a true act of sportsmanship, senior Ezra Televera of Hot Springs, junior Dwight Manygoats of Tohatchi, and 10th grader Kalen Carloye of St. Michael’s ran the final 100 meters of the race hand in hand, supporting each other for the accomplishment of completing the race. These three individuals, with a respect for one another, crossed the finish line as a trio, concluding the Class 3A competition.
We would like to extend our congratulations to our St. Michael's Horsemen volleyball team for clinching the number one seed in the 2023 New Mexico high school volleyball state tournament. Following a remarkable 20-3 season and a district championship, the ladies will compete in their first state tournament game on Thursday, November 16 at 2:00 p.m.
Additionally, congratulations are in order for our state champion cross country runners, Chloe Greico ‘28 and Landen Sandoval ‘24, for securing victory in the 2023 3A state championship held on Saturday, November 11 at Albuquerque Academy. Special recognition goes to Jeremiah Rodriguez ‘26 for finishing in the top ten.
Finally, a big round of applause to our varsity football team for their well-earned 21-14 victory over Raton in the quarterfinals of the 2023 state playoffs. The Horsemen will host New Mexico Military on Saturday, November 18 at 1:00 p.m.
