Cerys Holstege, originally from Los Altos, California, brings curiosity and academic excellence to her classroom at St. Michael’s. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Geophysics from Yale University, concentrating in Geobiology and Paleontology, and later pursued postgraduate research at Harvard University. Her early teaching experiences began when she shared geology lessons as a camp instructor, an experience that made her realize how much she loved guiding others to discovery. At St. Michael’s, she teaches Biology, Biology Honors, and Life Science, where she helps students explore the complexity of the natural world. At home, she enjoys the company of her cat, Ferguson, who often finds his way into her stories. Now in her third year as a classroom teacher and fourth year in education, she values the collaboration among faculty and the motivation of the students, and she hopes her students leave her class with the same excitement for science that first drew her into the field.
