From Fort Worth, Texas, Janis Chitwood brings 40 years of teaching experience to her work at St. Michael’s. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and a Master of Education from the University of Texas. She currently teaches 7th Grade Strategies for Success, 8th Grade Language Arts, and 11th Grade Ecumenical Religion. Her love of learning started young, when she found herself drawn to reading and teaching peers. Janis values St. Michael’s for its Lasallian mission and the sense of purpose that guides both faculty and students. She hopes her students remember her as a teacher who cared deeply about their success and integrity. Her leadership as department chair continues to shape the English program with rigor and compassion.
