Horsemen Highlights for week of April 17-21
Parents, we are rounding the corner as the 2022-2023 school year comes to an end. With final exams quickly approaching (seniors May 9-11 and 7-11th grades May 22-25th) please make sure your students are in school for every class period, every day. Your students cannot learn if they are not in class on a daily basis.
Also, with warmer weather comes an increase in students taking dress code “liberties” (ie., “violations”). Please review the dress code policy with your students. The dress code policy in its entirety can be found in the student handbook (starting on digital page 44). Click HERE to go to the handbook.
Junior/Senior PROM- The SMHS Prom is Sat., April 22nd at the Santa Fe Convention Center. Guest permission forms will be available to juniors and seniors starting on Monday, April 17th. Freshmen and Sophomores can only attend prom if they are invited and accompanied by a junior or senior. Junior high school students are not allowed to attend. Guest forms are due no later Thursday, April 20th. You cannot purchase a ticket for your guest without a completed permission form. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, April 19th and Thursday, April 20th during high school lunch. Tickets are $25.00 per person. Seniors receive one free ticket that they will have to sign for when picking it up. If there are any questions, please contact Ms. Margie at 505-993-7353, option 1.
Block M- Block M applications are currently under review. An announcement of our Block M recipients will take place on April 24-25th. The Block M Ceremony and Breakfast is scheduled for Sunday, May 7th at 10:00 a.m. RSVPs and ticket sales will take place April 26-May 2nd. Please continue to check Horsemen Highlights for information as it becomes available.
Academics:
PSAT- This week the 9th Grade (Wed., Apr. 19) and the 8th Grade (Thurs., Apr. 20) will take the PSAT on campus. The format is a pilot program conducted by PSAT, an online test. They plan on moving toward all online testing in the future so the experience will benefit our students. Contact Ms. Angel ([email protected]) if you have any questions. Testing dates for next year are also in the process of being calendared.
2023-2024 Calendar- The calendar is almost complete. We had to wait on the new State regulation for the minimum number of hours. Even though the number of required hours has gone up, St. Michael’s is still requires far more. We also were waiting for the SFSD calendar to be published so we could align major holiday times to make it more convenient for our families who have students in that world, too. The 2023-2024 Calendar will be posted on line this coming week and the Horsemen Highlights next week will have a link.
