Dear Parents,
The first two weeks of school have gone by quickly. At this point, all students should have a better understanding of the expectations of their teachers as well as the importance of coming to school and coming to school on time. Good attendance is vital to our students’ success. I encourage you to please periodically check on your child’s progress through OnBoard. All student grades and attendance should be up to date for every teacher every Monday. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers by email if you have any questions or concerns. Teacher contact information is available on our website. You may also refer to our website for important information and events happening at our school.
Our fall sports and extracurricular activities are in full swing, and we encourage all of you to come out and cheer on our students. Thank you for all your support to make St. Michael’s the quality school that it is. Go Horsemen!
Yours in Christ,
Martin C. Sandoval, Principal

Are you a professional in the Santa Fe community that is interested in becoming a mentor? Do you want to offer mentorship and guidance to a student who is interested in your profession? We want to hear from you! The work you do over the next months may inspire a student to turn their dreams into reality; it will teach and inspire a student to develop the self-knowledge and foundational skills to take those next steps in their journey. Please contact Ms. Stephanie Gurule-Leyba, SMHS Capstone Experience Instructor at 505-983-7353 or [email protected] for more information.

A Message from the Deans- As we approach the end of the second full week of school, students are settling in and are doing well. Please continue to check your students' grades in OnBoard regularly. Communication with your students' teachers is proven to keep them on track in their classes.
Schedule changes have been finalized. Wednesday was the last day to change schedules.
Drop off and pick up protocols: Parents, thank you in advance for making sure that your students arrive at school by 8:20 to avoid tardy issues. The front office closes at 4:30 every day and there is no administration supervision after that. Many of our students participate in supervised after school activities, but for those who do not, please make every effort to pick up your student by 4:30.
Campus safety is a top priority. So far, we have conducted two fire drills this year. We may conduct more drills throughout the year, including a shelter in place drill. Some fire drills may be unannounced, but we will inform you prior to any shelter in place or evacuation drill. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Just a reminder: there is no school Mon, Sept 4th. Happy Labor Day!
Activities:
Did you know that St. Michael’s participates in a student exchange program with several schools in Granada, Spain? For over 15 years, St. Michael’s students have traveled to Spain while Spanish students have spent time on our campus. Last year, juniors Mariella Rigales, Julia Diaz, Sebastian Salas and David Velazquez spent one to two months in Granada; Spanish students Ana Retamero Torres, Maria Corts Sánchez and Arán Fernández Rodríguez recently joined St. Mike’s. Ana arrived last spring, while Maria and Arán are with us through late September. Mr. Drake enjoys having them in his Spanish 4 Honors class, though at times the students are taken aback by how fast they speak.
